2002 tour of Holland |
|
From November 4th through the 18th Jeff, Rodney and Rico toured Holland. On this special page you'll find a special report of the trip. All went well, people danced, CD's were sold and a good time was had by all! Special thanks go out to: Johan, Peter, Satin, Arthur, Mete, Anthony, Manuel, Mark, Leon, Jan, Maarten, Jan, Rosemarie Roos, Domingo Belled, Ruud, Judith, Nynke and everybody else that helped! All the pictures on this page were taken by Peter Vroon from Apeldoorn. |

The first gig was on the 7th at a club called 'De
Twijfelaar' in Rotterdam. Beginning carefully, not knowing what to
expect from their first Dutch crowd, the night ended in a big jam
session with lots of musicians that came out to see what Jeff and his
band had to offer. Satin Kalpoe and Arthur, a drummer and trumpet player
respectively, residing in Rotterdam, joined Jeff, Rodney and Rico
to complete the lineup for that night.
The next night, at the same place, the band was even more played in and used to each other and the response from the audience was amazing. We'd also like to thank Leon, the owner of de Twijfelaar for giving us a great opportunity to perform in his wonderful establishment. We will be back! |

| On the 9th it was time to go up north to the old city of Groningen. That night a performance was scheduled at Jazz Cafe 'de Spieghel', run by a wonderful guy called Jan. After some initial technical difficulties, the night turned out great, not in the least thanks to great sax player Mete Erker who played with the band that night. In addition to music from Jeff's records, the band played all kinds of stuff, from funk to reggae. Famous architect Max van Huut loved the music so much, he actually bought 6 CD's! |

Cafe Buckshot, also in Gronigen, was next on the afternoon of the 10th and this turned out to be a much more experimental and jazzy gig that the night before. Proprietor Maarten was great and Jeff sang his butt off. On the 13th, Jeff was back to sing with a band made up of local musicians from the conservatory, which turned into a great night as well. All in all the city of Groningen was very nice to the guys and they'll definitely be back! |
| On November 15th, a concert was planned in the town of Alphen a/d Rijn, where bassist Rico Belled grew up. For this special occasion, guitarist and Rico's brother, Manuel was included in the line-up, both with the band and as a solo classical guitarist. The night was very mellow, but for a small but mighty crowd, the music was outstanding. A solo piece that Manuel wrote for Jeff was definitely one of the highlights of the night |

Finally, on the 16th it was Blues Cafe Apeldoorn for a final night of music. For this gig, as Satin had a prior commitment, the band was joined by Anthony from Rotterdam who did great. As seen on the photo to the left, Rodney was in heaven playing a real Hammond A-100 with a fantastic Leslie. The wonderful owner, Jan, was ecstatic to see someone, who knows how to work a Hammond, play his prized possession. Rodney was on fire and it was a great final concert to close the tour! |
